Drug Abuse

Drug abuse is the voluminous intake of substances which are harmful to the health. It is also the excess dose of chemical substances which could be in three forms which are; solid, liquid, in gas and in a powdered form. Such drugs are cocaine,codeine,weed or Indian hemp etc. Anyone could be a victim of this abuse. Taking a medicated prescription in excess results to drug abuse.

Is it a disease or not?

Frequent abuse of this substance could affect the brain causing the body to be a slave to this atrocious act making it abnormal, there and then addiction sets in.Statistics show that most criminal activities are done under the influence of this drugs.

Effects

1) Self control would be lost

2) unstableness of the hands

3) Recklessness

4) Memory loss

5) Death etc.

reasons for the intake

Firstly, we should have it in mind that various addicts or victims engage themselves in this act for different reasons which are for; relaxation, boost self confidence, joblessness, peer pressure etc. To be precise, non of this reasons or more is been achieved by engaging in such act.

Punishment by the law

See. Section 11(1)(a-k), section 11(2)

The penalties for offences under subsection (1) of this section             shall-

(a)    in respect of an offence under paragraphs (a), (b), (d), (e), (h)             and (j) thereof, be imprisonment for life;

(b)    in respect of offences under paragraphs (c), (f), (g) and (i)                 thereof, be imprisonment for a term not less than fifteen years             and not exceeding twenty-five years.

Cultism

What’s is cultism or who is a cultist?

Cultism the coming of a group of people who share the same ideology,sentiments and purpose which is hidden from the general public. A cultist is a member of this group of people who has been accepted by the head or other members.

The first originator was Wole Soyinka,which brought “pyrates”into existence in 1952. They were seven of them (Ralph Opara, Ikhehare Aig-Imokhuede, Sylvanus Egbuchie, Nathaniel Oyelola, Pius Oleghe, Olumuyiwa Awe) they called themselves “Magnificent seven” which started in the university of Ibadan,Nigeria.

Why do people join cultism?

1) Due to oppression from other cult groups

2) For protection

3) Peer-pressure

4) poverty etc.

Effect of cultism

In this present generation we are in,cultist are well known for causing havoc, criminal activities, they are seen as oppressors,killers or ritualist etc. Most cult groups take blood oath I.e they have to obey a capo which is believed to be their head and backbone.Death is at their door step because each time there is a class between city rivals, spillage and shed of blood sets in.

Section 62 of the criminal code act defines a society to include any combination of ten or more persons whether the society is known by any name or not. The Act in section 62(2) goes further to describe unlawful societies as any society formed for any of the following purposes:

1) Levying war or encouraging or assisting any person to levy war on the Govt or the inhabitants of any part of Nigeria;

2) Killing or injuring or encouraging the killing or injuring of any person, clearly Boko Haram falls into this category;

3) Destroying or injuring or encouraging the destruction or injuring of any property; or

4) Subverting or promoting the subversion of the Govt or of its officials; or

5) Committing to inciting to acts of violence or intimidation; or

6) Interfering with, or resisting, or encouraging interference with or resistance to the administration of the law; or

7) Disturbing or encouraging the disturbance of peace and order in any part of Nigeria; or

8) If declared by an order of the President to be a society dangerous to the good government of Nigeria or of any part thereof.

Penalty or punishment by the law

The bill for death penalty for anyone who is caught practicing cultism was passed in the year 2017. Anyone who is also aiding such activity would be imprisoned for 3year or more.

Rape

Rape can be defined to a lay man as having a forceful intercourse with a woman or lady without her consent. Rape can also be described as the coercive penetration without the consent of the victim. Section 357 of the criminal code (CC) defines rape to be, any person who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman or girl,without her consent, or with her indent, if the consent is obtained by force or by means of threats or intimidation of any kind, or by fear o harm, or by means of false and fraudulent representation as to the nature of the act, or , in the case of a married woman, by personating her husband, is guilty of an offense which is called rape.

This offense (RAPE) is embodied in different entities of law which are;

1 The Criminal Code – this is applicable in all the Southern States

2 The Penal Code – this is applicable in all the Northern States

3 The Criminal Laws of Lagos – this is applicable only in Lagos State

4 The Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act – this is applicable in only the FCT Abuja.

5 The Child Rights Act – this is only applicable in the States which have domesticated

Rape is a criminal offense which is punishable by imprisonment for live, with or without canning. Also attempt to commit rape is an offense is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years with or without canning.

According to the law, only females are eligible to be raped in Nigeria (except FCT Abuja).

Creation of your life.

Generally speaking life has segments which have part ways.life as a whole is what you want it to be,how you want it to be.its like a lego or clay in the potters hand. Life can be seen as a clay in this context “a potter creating a pot or and object needs to follow certain procedures,methods and the object also passes through stages” so is life.Humans are God creations made out of dust. I believe everyone has his/her destiny to fulfill because everyone is different. Life is like water which is poured on a flat surface because it spreads.it has no destination it follows the part you want it to go.In this article we would be viewing the major steps to follow to build a better life.

1) Vision:- One as to know what he or she wants in this life.

2)Goal setting:- In a year or in a month,set what you are planning to achieve

3) Hard-work:-laziness is a easy step but hard-work is the solution to overcome and to build.

4)Determination:- The zeal must always be there to drive you towards reaching your goal.

5) Prayer:- Prayer is the key.

6) Invest:- invest not only money wise, but also invest in people,share thoughts,rub minds etc.

There is this proverb that says “if life gives you melons make out of it a lemonade”. Things might not go according to plan for sometime but “consistency is the key”.

Also,there are things which need to be eradicated in other to be someone in life,to be fulfilled,to be great and wealthy.They are;

1) Depart from people who don’t build you or motivate you.

2) suspend all form of distractions or time wasting activities I.e gossips,fights or movies that are not beneficiary to you.

3) Repudiation of nonchalant attitudes towards people or situations.
